South Korea offers teaching positions in Public and Private schools. This guide will specifically address public schools and teaching for EPIK.

What is EPIK?

EPIK stands for English Program In Korea. With EPIK, they accept applications in two rounds, spring and fall intake. Spring intake applications open at the beginning of August and Fall intake applications open in February. From what I can tell, applications stay open until they find people who can take positions throughout the country.

What do I need to be an English teacher in Korea?

The long answer is that all the necessary documents and requirements needed are listed on the EPIK website. Everything from pay scales, documents you will need after and additional questions will be answered on their official website.

The short answer:

- A bachelor’s degree in any subject.

-Two letters of recommendation

-Lesson Plan

-Three short answer essays

-International Resume (with a picture of you)

- TEFL certification (optional, but recommended).
